New to me Clausing lathe

How does the wear on the ways look? Hard to tell from the pictures.

Cutting oil is my blood.
Almost no detectable wear. The ways are nice. No gouges or dents either.

Gaffer, it took me 2 sharp blows with a Dead blow mallet to get it to swivel, then it lifted right off. Those 2 nuts are hard as he'll to get too . Give it a few wacks on the sides too. I would bet it will come off.
Gaffer. Do you have a manual. You need one. Your gibs probably need adjustment to.

So far this is a nice machine. Just too big for my small garage shop. So eventually I will sell it and look for a smaller lathe

Dibs if that day comes

Mcmaster carr for 1/4 inch oilers. Ordered 4. 2 of mine are bad so that will give me 2 just in case. All on the slide.

Gaffer, is yours a 13 inch model? Just to the left of the main slide wheel there is a stud looking thing. At first I thought it was a stop, for whatever. But upon examination of the parts diagram they call it a Way oiler. Mine is totally frozen so I'll fix that too.

Yes, mine is a 13' gap bed. I'm not sure which part you are referring to.2024-01-27_090234.jpgDocument_2024-01-27_090247.jpg

That little plunger my thumb is pressing on. That's the oiler. Was frozen up. Not now. Clean and works.
I also pulled off the threading indicator. It's missing the oiler. Glad i ordered 4. I'm considering pulling the saddle and deep cleaning it to.

Does anyone know if the carriage has a drain plug?

Mine doesn’t have the plunger or a drain plug for the carriage.
