I was just wondering what air pressure you guys and gals are using at the air fitting-line pressure to the device, after a regulator.
I have seen many users with pressures all over the map. It is my intention to add a gentle spray to my work/tooling.

Wouldn't you just set it at the pressure and volume that works best for you? This may change from job to job.

Like many small devices there is a max air pressure. This wheel has been invented already. I am just hoping to jump to the finish line.
If you haven't noticed, I'm a bit odd.

It isn't the wheel you are inventing. It is how you are using that wheel.

But, I am thinking that there is a reason you are seeing settings "all over the map" as you say. What does the manual specify? Might be a good place to check. :encourage:

There is a manual, in the recycling bin with the box it came with :).
I see this little thing can handle up to 140PSI.
That answeres that part of my question. The other part will be trial and error.

The minicool has a built in needle vlave you use to adjust the pressure.

Incidentally, it looks like Noga has a pretty good website. You could shoot them your question and see if they have any other recommendations. You could report back here as to how helpful they are.

I have one that I haven't hooked up yet but it will be pressurized with a little Grex compressor used for air brushes. No tank, quiet, fires up only on demand. In my view, the more air pressure I use, the more potential for aerosolizing the fluid and I don't need that.

Tom Lipton at Ox Tools uses a little on-demand diaphragm pump that puts out low pressure air. He discusses this from about 13:15 here:

I put 60psi to my koolmist and use the needle valve to get it started then turn it down to desired mist.

I run my el cheapo at 30psi using a cheap HF air regulator. Then use the needle valve on the unit to adjust the flow for both the air and the fluid. My compressor has an 80 gallon tank, I leave the power switch off most of the time. The mister can run for hours on that tank without needing to run the motor. I just tweak it to get the type and amount of spray I want. I generally aim for small drops, just enough to keep a slight sheen on the part while machining it. Most of the fluid evaporates off from the heat while cutting. When not actively cutting, I use a ball valve to turn the air off. Mostly so I don't have to listen to the hiss while setting up operations.

I run 25psi into a trico little mister. Then adjust the coolant valve until the temperature drops on the air flow.

Yep the little noga does a great job at 30 psi. That is what i run mine at all the time. You don’ t want a fog just little droplets.

The _ONLY_ dumb question is the one that is NOT asked!

The manual will only give you the absolute max, used to cover their a$$ with the lawyers.

What you need in operation is somewhere along an infinite spectrum of pressures.
I see a bunch of great info above that should give you a starting point.
Then you can tweak it to your specific circumstance.

Keep it coming. I am going to add a regulator before the valve. I have 125 PSI in the shop.

Mine, 25- 30 psi.. Milling something a long period of time where things will heat up, I'll go to 40-45 psi., seems to keep temps down well.
