Oil lathe ways

How often should I oil the ways on my hobby Southbend lathe I don't use it every day. Thanks00 Ken

I also do not use my on a daily basis. clean mine with compressed air and a chip brush. I also spray a light mist of W-D 40 on it. I get a good amount of rust on the cross-slide compound and carriage wheel. I will use W-D 40 and light steel wool to remove the rest from the wheels. I keep a check on it and do cleaning and lub as necessary.

You should leave the machine clean and lubricated after each use. Oil before if it's been sitting for a couple of weeks.

After I scraped the saddle and cross slide, I oil it religiously before use
