Opinions on this ?

I went through two of them. A three jaw chuck is more accurate. They make a good door stop ,but that is about all. Bison makes a good one at around 500 dollars. A draw tube and a 5 C bushing in the spindle is a much better way to go.
ya thats kind of what I'm thinking its easy enough to dial the chuck in but I don't have an oven to harden the parts and from what i'm seeing they're pretty soft .
 
The 5C adaptor can be purchased already made. Search this site for information. There have been a couple of good write up on making the draw tube. Bob Korvas had an excellent one.
 
On smaller lathes the increased overhang may create a chatter problem. That was my experience on a 10K.
