I’ve never bothered with genuine way oil for my tiny lathe. Now that LMS has it in small bottles I’m getting some. What other jobs around the house and garage might it be used for?

Here in Minnesota there is winter and summer weight bar oil. I'm not a logger, perhaps its everywhere.
Summer is a bit thicker. It can really make a difference on snugging up worn ways....

Beware there is also synthetic bar/chain oil.

Any brand/specific recommendations?

You use bar oil on the ways? Hadn't thought of that.
I use it all the time on the ways. It’s got a “tackifier” in it that makes it mostly stay where you put it.

Also works good on my Dual turntables where it calls for a “sticky” oil.

I’ve always got a bottle around for the chainsaw, so its a nice dual purpose use product…
