In a country as small as mine abandoned cars are rare and they usually end up in a scrapyard. This car caught my eye on a local buy and sell site, it has lots of issues but one big benefit, it's good spec and low mileage. It was in a nebering city and the seller said it had only 112k on the clock and been sitting for more than 5 years. When i got there someone had been to look at it and started it and try moving it only to debeed all the tires, had 186k on the clock. And sling mud everywhere, i was surprised how good it was in the interior, and the engine started and run like new. The seller was a young guy who only drove peugeot's, this was is late father's. Me arriving in a 605 and knowing everything about the 406 put me ahead of everyone who was interested, he was strict about the price, i would wanted to get it cheaper but even at that price it was a good deal. Once i heard it's been sitting from 2009 till now and runs so well i know it deserves to be saved. You can see i had to air up the tires, put a battery in it, the terminals are a mess and it drove up on that asvalt pad no issues. The hole it left behind was shocking to see, there was no grass under it i'm suspecting it took it with it, you can see the grime in the trunk opening it will be a real mission to get it back on the road.

Yep, around these parts it is understood that when someone says "I have a 12 valve", they are talking about an old Dodge pickup with a Cummins diesel. Peugeot turned tail and left the US market back in the '80s. The quote from the CEO of the US arm was legendary. " Europeans want their brakes to work well, and don't mind a bit of squeal. Americans don't care if the brakes work well or not as long as they don't squeal".

6BT are used in longhal trucks here, I've had this badge on the back of my 605 for mounts now only few have ask me do i really have a 2,1TD, no one has mention the 6BT. I don't see Peugeot geting back in the american market with a diesel.

Today i managed to get the new project transported home and did not waste any time getting it cleaner. I use oven degreaser concentrate on the moldy parts and dish soap on the rest, the engine and front end will get more attention tomorrow, also the drivers window broke on me as i was unloading it. I also check the under in my inspection pit, it had so much grass and roots i'm surprised it even moved, no visible rust, couple of surface rust spots that i plan to deal with first of all.

Today I managed to buy all new fluids for this project also i changed the driver's side front tire. The old one isn't holding air, i also pop in a new valve and clean out the roots. It's going to be a nightmare to get it clean out. This car has a badge on the back which i don't know what it means "Davos"any ideas?

Town in switzerland?

Might just be a “stick on” that someone slapped on there. IE: means nothing.
