Hi All, What are you using to hold your Android device for your TouchDRO setup? I'm about to make something for my new 10" tablet so would love to see some ideas. There are a few pics scattered around in here but I thought a dedicated thread might be a handy resource too. Extra points if your mount has some cool machined details or cunning re-use of junk parts.

Here's a basic one I made a few years back for my old 8" tablet to go in my 4wd. Using RAM hardware for the arm as I already have a few RAM bits & bobs around for mounting things in other vehicles. Will likely put the new one on a RAM arm too. Seems like a good excuse to have a go at ball turning!

All Aluminium with some heatshrink to add a bit of grip.

I must have been scraping the bottom of the countersunk bolt barrel that day given the mismatched heads...

Mine is not strictly DIY - I used the cheapest monitor VESA mount on Amazon and 3D printed some parts for it to make it work my needs. I juggle several tablets between the lathe and the mill, so I printed a mount that is easily removable. The bracket is a semi-loose fit, but I use two rare earth magnets that are facing each other. The one in the arm is above center, so it creates a positive detent. This is what the mount looks like:

On the back of the tablet case there is another 3D printed part that is held in place by 3M double sided tape:

it's symmetrical, so I can flip the tablet to "landscape" mode if needed.

I bought a cheap generic tablet mount and used it to mount a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 on an welded metal beam I bolted to the side of the mill.

However a larger tablet would probably have been a better choice.

The mount can be rotated and tilted which comes in handy sometimes.

That is a nice mount. Just curious, do you use the new version in "portrait" or "landscape" mode?

I haven't actually made up my mind regarding that.

I always used the old version in landscape mode but with the new version I find portrait mode rather attractive too as it displays x, y, z, points and the graphical layout all in the same view.

Nere is my mount for my tablet in my lathe. It is mounted on the backsplash for the G0602. The tablet can be removed for other purposes by lifting and rotating.

Hm, I just found a bug in the app by looking at your second-to-last photo: the "+" in the "Add Sub-Datum" button is not centered...

That's well spotted by you. I didn't have the stomach to report such a small thing =)
