Hi All,

I have been thinking about starting this thread for a while now.
A while ago we had a poll to try and clean up the forum and make it easier to navigate and find what you are looking for.
So far i think it has been a great help and everyone seems to like the changes.

The one thing that i really love to see is where our members make their creations!
I know we have a few threads for lathes and milling machines etc..
What i wanted to do with this thread is to amalgamate these separate threads into one.

So instead of just showing us your "Import Lathe" show us your workshop as a whole!
Show the lathe, no matter where it is from as well as all your other tools!
Lathes, mills, drill, measuring equipment, benches you made, tools you made everything in your workshop that you use to get the job done!
Show your unusual finds or mundane tools that you cannot live without!
Most of our tools have a history behind them that can be worth sharing!!

Of course ::needspics:: so take lots of them and show us your "Man Cave"!!!

And please do not clean up!!! or at least not too much!!!

I will start once i have all my pictures organized!!!

Here is a teaser of one of my latest finds!
A sensitive tapping stand for smaller taps.
Made by a machinist about 30 years ago it is a solid little guy.
Weighing in at about 25 pounds!!

And three other engines in the background, all from the same machinist!

OK ....alright already, enough about the lack of pictures!!!

Here is the beginning of the NEW shop. Started last week. Stopped due to rain.

It has been raining since Thursday. Rain rain rain. Did I mention that it has been raining? BTW it is rain right now.

The small 3 jaw is my favourite one!!

The timing's good, I just took a few pics of my shop yesterday which I posted in a seperate thread. I was actually looking for a "Show us your shop" thread but couldn't find one. So here's some pics of my shop.

Here's my 9x20 lathe on the custom bench I built, the long drawer at the top holds my small diameter stock and the 6 other drawers are full of tooling and other junk. One day I'll get around to putting fronts on the drawers (a "one day" project :D ) To the left of the lathe you can see my 12 ton press and the top of my mig trolley. To the right you can just see my 15cfm compressor.

This is my main bench which is currently home to my vice, my X2 clone mill, my bench grinder and a small 20 + year old Tawainese drill press my dad gave me.
100_1672800x600.jpg

This is my latest purchase, a 6 x 4 horizontal bandsaw, behind it you can see the shop jukebox and my rolling tool cabinet.
100_1673800x600.jpg

This is the shop jukebox in the making (another "one day" project) made from an old PC I have, it's even connected to the internet so I can check in to see what's happening. ::typing::
100_1670600x800.jpg

And finally the shop chair, a racing seat I put on the base of an old office chair.

These photos were taken after a tidy up and make the shop look tidier than it normally is.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the link to the older post on the same topic.... :(

Well a new post for newer people!!!
And hopefully some new machines to show!!! :)

Andrew

I really need to learn to search better. :-[

Maybe the mods could combine this into the old thread and make it a sticky.

I'd love to see some more members shops. 8)

Which thread please?

Show me the URL and I will be happy to merge them- we can do that!

David - what is your impression of the Hafco MetalMaster band saw? I keep glancing at them in Hare and Forbes and would be interested in hearing what you think.

Haven't had it for long but I couldn't be without one now. It's like anything from China it needs a bit of sorting out but it's one of the better investments I've made in equipment. I cut a piece of 2" round solid mild steel in the other day and my arms appreciated it. :Azn:

There's a few good threads and links in the machinery section worth checking out for info on these bandsaws. :)
