Was wondering what angle most of you keep your compound at most of the time. To date I have kept mine at 29 degrees. But I hardly ever thread. I was thinking about keeping it at 90 instead. (Logan 820 0 is in line with the cross slide). My intent is it would give me a fine feed in the Z axis. The travel wheel is pretty course and I occasionally have to sneak up on a shoulder. I figure the compound would let me do that easier. Any thoughts?

Big lathe, 90 degrees, small lathe 29.5 degrees. Mostly has to do with the space available and reaching in to the work when using the tailstock. Plus it's more precise to move the compound on the big lathe, since the carriage is so much heavier.
