Vintage is pre 1930 by definition.

Vintage is a word you add to the title of a Ebay listing to get more bids. Example: "Rare Vintage Doohickey Lovely Patina" which works much better than "Rusty Old Piece Of Junk I Found At The Dump"

As far as machines go I like Peter's "anything older than me" definition.
 
By today's standard: anything made in the USA, anything made to last 100 yrs, anything iconic and benchmark, anything made 3 times heavier than it needs to be, anything that was great that's now out of production, anything worthwhile that the chinese are cloning, and lastly....anything coveted by old machinists with good taste.
