Stan, I have seen people using glycol windshield fluid as a coolant for aluminium on CNC machines. The finish was superb. It's cheap and is available at nearly any auto parts store or gas station.

I do most of my work dry with a shop vacuum
some time for AL I use W40
threading and taping dark cutting oil
Keeps my wife happy as cutting does smell

X2. Dry.
Tapping i use a shot of wayoilor whatever is handy.
E.g. I cut 30 of these last week totally dry, $5 brazed carbide bit and only issue was needed to fine stone the BUE prior to each finish pass.
