Vevor 8x14 tailstock headache

No, no real gap.
I think i said earlier i just purchased this lathe used and have done nothing with it.
The tailstock appeared solid as no side to side could be felt. I see that from the back of the tail stock that there appeared to be gaps to the side, but not at the top. There was no side to side play when the tailstock was loosened. I thought about looking at the front left of the tailstock and it was the same appearance. I took off the tailstock and I see what happened. The tailstock has JB weld in the V to keep it from moving side to side. Damn! Previous owner laid plastic over the V, filled the tailstock mating surface with JB weld, locked it down and let it harden. Now I have to be very careful as to making sure everything lines up properly...even though the tailshaft is solid then locked.
I see now why I was able to buy it for less than the price of the quick change tool post and holders that came with it.
I'm sure I'll find some use for it.

Does the spindle sit true to the bed/head stock.
Does the head stock have the same design?
The image here should show fairly well what the headstock looks like.

So the tail stock cant does not match the cant if the head stock
Making the tail stock hard to center if it can be centered at all

Perhaps buy a tailstock - Grizzly 8x16 may fit.

I was thinking that I never checked the alignment of my headstock and tail stock. So I decided to do so. After realizing I bought a hack of a lathe and even that was hacked, I am surprised how well the alignment is and how repeatable it appears to be. I hope these images help. I got lucky?

I'd take it! 8^)

I really have to mention something though. My old Homier (SIEG version) purchased over 20 years ago required a lot of shiming etc to get the tailstock sorted out. Th issue? It was close when retracted, but would run out as its ram was extended - in both planes. I did get it good after a while though - then could run a 1/16" jobber drill full length without issue.
