Need info on a good oxy/acteylene set up for brazing

Like this?
Yes, that is one of the options. I really like the 800$ option of the desktop unit, however, and I have to mull until the decision is pressing. THen forced to act, I'll have all the info. Waiting on a new technology usually gives your either cheaper price or greater value. So waiting is a safe bet here.

Woodchucker - do you chuck a lot of wood? As in run a wood lathe? Good handle.
I have a wood lathe, I don't use it a lot, only when the need arises. I'm not a wood turning type guy. I got it should I want to do spindles, round centers for tables, etc. I have made quite a few things, but I don't turn as my thing.

Cool just wondered with that user name. I bought an old wood lathe for 100 and keep it in the shed mostly about like you, darn handy tool tho cause of the speed. I'm pulling mine out today to round the ends of some 1/2 alum. Hit em with a hand file instead of making a forming tool for the metal lathe. I bought a very small (micro) metal chuck and with a delrin thread adaptor it always makes me feel like I'm playing with house money. ;-)

Any two piece torch set with cutting head and replaceable welding tips will be fine for brazing. The best piece of advice I can give is don't buy small tanks. (under 200 CF). They run out fast and usually in the middle of the job. If they won't sell you the bigger tanks then lease them like I'm forced to do. Once you have the capability to weld, cut, braze bend, ect. you'll be using those torches more and more. I think my set is 276 oxy and 325 acetylene.

Thanks Verboten, I'll not comment on your handle bc I know there is a bottle in your shop no one is allowed to touch
It is a long story.... LOL.

In answer to your previous question The solder is Harris Safety-Silv 45, it comes in a brazing rod configuration, I do also have the Harris Safety-Silv 56 which comes in a roll like standard solder and I use the Harris white brush on flux...

Thanks on the info. LOL on the handle.

Don’t know about your area but around here a few weeks following Craigslist will get a complete oxy/acetylene setup with gas in the tanks.
John
John thanks on the tip. I bought a set up today, took a deep dive into CL and Marketplace and found a Victor set up with 2 small bottles in the plastic carry pack, has a full size cutting torch and like new Victor Regs- just like you said $150 all in, acetylene 1/2 full, (just 100 lbs) I got the 0xy filled for $15. Had to drive 80 miles to get it, I'll post a photo tomorrow. Yesterday I peened one of these levers using an alum arm, will get the brazing started soon. The delrin spacer not attached on this one
