I seem to keep trying internet ideas. And so far I have repeatedly been disappointed. I've tried everything from how to kill fire ants and how to evict mud daubers. Most have been total failures and some do somewhat work. Yesterday I made some homemade rust remover that was recommended to me on some forum. Below are pictures of the results. Now this stuff is totally safe. After buying it because I was told it was water softener salt, I checked it out and it is used in many different applications but mostly the manufacturing of cosmetics. Look at the pictures and judge which is best for yourself.

I reckon I’d go for the evaporust.

There used to be guys on the internet that would try all the newest trendy things, and tell which worked. Not sure if they’re still doing that.

There was a time when I tried many different options for rust removal. These days, I just try to not bring home rusty things. It’s nearly fool proof. Lol

I have used muriatic acid, phosphoric acid (Naval Jelly), EvapoRust, and electrolysis. The muriatic acid works fastest but also attacks the bare metal. Naval Jelly can be spread thinly and also works fairly quickly. It attacks bare metal as well. Electrolysis works fairly well, it doesn't attack the bare metal, and is least expensive. The poorest deruster in my experience is the EvapoRust.

If you want something to replace evaporust go buy yourself a gallon of white vinegar. Like 2 bucks a gallon and works as good if not better than evapo.
No, it doesn't work as well. It's much slower and it stinks. Tried it. But it is great for removing mill scale.

@ltlvt, try the EDTA one more time, with two changes- make the solution from hot water, and add about 10% by dry weight sulfamic acid powder against your weight of EDTA. I haven't tried it yet, but everything that I see on the backs of my eyelids says it's gonna work real well.

If one wants to get rid of ants, this is them eating the poison I made.
Took about 3 days before they were done and they were gone for about 3 months before another run.
I repeated this and after 3 days they're gone again.
