Bottle jack seals

So i got it back together and it seems to work. I cannot get it to seal at the bottom of the resivoir though. There was no seal there when it came apart. I have since put a rubber seal in there but no luck. Anyone know the secret to getting this to seat?

The reservoir isn't under pressure, it's just a tank; some Permatex gasket sealant should keep that
joint from leaking. Any auto shop can sell you a tube of suitable goo. There's a slight
possibility of cracks or voids in the cast metal, probably worth a close look.

I think i am going to go this route.

In general, piston seals can be found in the Hercules catalog. The information will include the max psi rating.
