Yeah, absolutely nothing wrong with pinning it at all. I was somewhat looking for an excuse to TIG braze something because my recent TIG focus has been on doing smaller, more delicate stuff, so this was a good fit. I'm such a nerd I spent a day going back and forth between using silicon bronze and aluminum bronze filler wire...lol.This is essentially what I did. Where you tig’d I just pinned. Easy deal really. I only had to repair one of the compound gears.
Not having any gears at all is going to be more involved but still doable.
After doing one gear I wouldn't hesitate to do a whole set if necessary...like you said, very doable.
