Companion Drill press - replace chuck

Papa C: nice. I didn't know jacobs made that chuck. I saw "41BA" before, but never with the 1/2-24 mount.

I do not believe i am dealing with an arbor - I believe the spindle is 7/8", and the lower 2" is turned and threaded to 12-24. I've found a few other posts on these Companion presses, and I think this is normal. :(
 
Hmm. looks like that jacobs 51BA is only a 1/4" chuck. I may be back to making an adaptor.
Or turning down and re-threading my spindle for 3/8-24
 
I would contact Jacobs and talk with them. My search was a quick one and there maybe other options. I think you will find that they are very responsive to requests for help. A quick phone call or email may be well worth your time.
