Compressor troubleshoot & "upgrade"

Well I am guessing the chrome muffler bearings..........

What's a 50 L? Your compressor doesn't have a brand name?
Direct drive relates to the motor and pumps drive arrangement but doesn't tell us if it is a rotary or a reciprocating pump.
When someone tells me something is not repairable I start talking to other people.
It is a 50 litre and the brand is a John air. I can't find anything about it online and there is nothing to speak of in the 4page "manual". Only thing in the troubleshoot section is to replace the pressure valve. I wil contact the hardware store where I bought it and see if they can help me part wise.

Does the unit start bu not make pressure?

Confirmed it looks like a Piston style(reciprocating)

Does the unit start bu not make pressure?
Yes it runs. I have it connected to my pneumatic hydraulic press. It loosing pressure and then started refilling and then suddenly made a deeper sound while refilling but didn't build pressure.

Ok reread your original post.
Runs but does not build pressure.
Remove the plastic shield and then the outlet pipe.
Remove the cylinder head and post pictures of the block, valves and piston.
Reed valves are called reed valves because they are thin like a Reed.
You can make them out of various materials ( metal) with a pair of tin snips and a drill

Ok thank you. It is pretty hectic here now became I am working on stuff in my house and work from home in my shop. So when I get around to it,I will post pics again. Thanks for the advice @sdelivery
