Got an 11" Logan lathe

Being it was the Army were you asked or Told to go over there? :)
I got to run a WS#5 in the Navy. A little...
They had an E4 who was the turret lathe man.
i was only E3 then.
I was asked if I knew what it was and told them I had been running one when I was drafted into the army. It was more of a production machine than what the tank machine shop needed.

I finally have some more progress to report. I measured and bent some conduit. Measured and made a small adapter piece. Bought and slightly modified a 4" gang box. Re-installed the original Square D drum switch, painted its sheet metal and blued its handle. Pulled the wiring through my electrical conduit from the drum switch to the 4" gang box. Attached the wires at the drum switch. Roughly attached the wires at the gang box to the motor and tested that the motor worked. Finish trimmed the wires and used Wago connectors to hook wiring together. Finally got it all closed up. I am going to do more work on it this weekend. I will take more pictures

Got more progress done this weekend. Recently calculated and ordered a pulley from McMaster-Carr for the new motor that I got and installed it and the large jack shaft pulley with an adjustable belt and the door. Installed and adjusted the drive box cover. Installed the back gears cover. Now I am starting on the saddle. Got it all dis-assembled and I cleaning the steel and cast iron parts in my little hot tank.

I have been under the weather for some time and dealing with a normal family life has prevented me from working on my lathe as much as I would like. That changed this weekend as I was able to get more work done. First I got the saddle and cross feed base painted. Then I tore into the apron and inspected and gave it a thorough cleaning and am hot tanking the apron castings. Hopefully, I will get the saddle apron assembly all back together next weekend.

Great that you are feeling better!

The lathe is looking amazing!

i was only E3 then.
I was asked to see lf I knew what the machine was . Before went into the army
I ran a W&S turret 10 hour a day in heavy production for years.

I got the apron put on last night. Naturally, the half-nut operates. However, the feed and crossfeed aren't working. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried tightening and loosening the nut on the clutch, but nothing seems to be working.

I got some more progress to report. I figured out the clutch in the apron and got that working. Painted the handles for the apron and blued and installed them. Got the compound painted and re-assembled. And, got my only chuck torn down and I am going to clean and re-grease.
