BTW, butyl cellusolve IS commonly available, disguised as white board cleaner ;-)

Butyl cellosolve = butoxyethanol = glycol ether surfactant =ethylene glycol monobutyl ether = simple green = purple power = blue can oven cleaner.

The stuff is safe. Nothing spooky about it.

That will have to come off with elbow grease and steel wool. Next time you use rust converter, you will find it comes off easily while still wet, straight out of the bath. Once it sets, it stains. Stainless or silvery steel gets real black from chromium conversion.

A little brake cleaner, scotchbrite and elbow grease worked a charm!
