Help With Lining Up A Lathe Tail Stock

Late to the party here, but I thought I'd offer:
A QUICK TAILSTOCK ALIGNMENT TRICK
Absolutely fantabulacious! I don't know how many times I've learned about "our ability to feel .001" or less descrepancy in the surface," but this really brings it home. Many thanks!

PS - I've been known to use the "feel it in" trick on the mill when using the pointed end of a center finder to locate previously drilled holes.

With all do respect, mmcmdl, I'm very sure that a lot of other members would benefit from the help you're offering to egbg68 in a PM. Why not post the help here, so that we will all benefit from your gunsmithing knowledge. Hope I'm not offending, JR49

Sorry I missed this and no offense taken at all JR . I just wanted to let EB know about making barrel plugs and about the process of making them true for runout. It's hard to envision everyone's abilities on the site and thought it might have been a longer conversation . Just trying to keep redundant posts to a minimum .I believe he is on the correct path to success !

I plan to keep posting my progress on leveling the lathe , tailstock alinenent and finally turning a barrel here if that's OK ? Hopefully the more experience guys will give pointers along the way.
Thank you for your input so far .

Ed . Look for a cheap set of lathe/grinding dogs on the Bay . Save your time/effort and stock . You're lookin good from what I can see . I'm progressing in my mission but slowly !!
