In Memorium: Bob Korves

Bob passed away last Friday. He was my mentor and friend. Incredibly talented and knowledgeable. He will be missed, but his legacy goes on with the fellowship he created with other hobby machinists throughout California and Nevada—from Nipoma (Bill Dolengowitz RIP) to Reno (Paul Baygents) to Ukiah (Aaron Woods). We lost a true mensch.
Thank you Evan.
I couldn’t agree more, Bob will be missed.

He was a member of the Sacramento machinists group and a long time career machinist. I believe he may have been a member here but if he was he posted very infrequently.

Like Bob (and many others) he was always willing to help out somebody new to machining.
Thanks for the clarification. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

So sorry to hear this. He was a friend to many of us and he will be sorely missed. RIP, my friend.

I would like to personally thank Bob Korves, for introducing me to the Sacramento Valley Hobby Machinist Group.
Bob and I met in the fall of 2017. He saw some of my posts on this forum and invited me to join the local group.
He has also made some significant contributions to this forum over the years.

Bob is suffering from some sort of growth in his brain. I don’t know the specifics. He is having a hard time communicating.
A few of us were able to spend the day with him yesterday, we drove over to a fellow members shop to visit with members of our local group.

Bob, please know I am very grateful for your technical advice and help over the years. You helped me inspect and ultimately purchase my beautiful Micromaster. Benmychree helped me find it. Thanks again John!

Bob and Jim also helped me move the surface grinder, my big knee mill and my Colchester lathe.
It just shows his willingness to help his friends and a bit of his character.

Please join me in wishing Bob and Alice a speedy recovery.
Bob Korv3s -you are in my prayers.

The is really sad!
Bob has replied to my posts at times, and I always thought of him as an HM expert.
I did not know that he was also a fellow glider pilot! [My thanks to Jeff @Janderso ]
We will all miss him a whole lot.

Graham,
Bob told stories about gliding for many hours and miles when the conditions were right—up and down CA and even into NV and OR with a single tow.

He was certainly an HM expert and an incredibly generous tutor and mentor.

Evan

I wonder if the area where Bob used to live was flooded, he sold the place and moved to higher ground because he feared getting flooded out.
