OT tire bead sealing

Heck yeah, Neil, you experienced blast overpressure. If it took any amount of time for your hearing to come back, then damage was done. The truth is, though, ten years after reading glasses a lot of us will be getting hearing aids. They're pretty awesome these days with bluetooth and electronic signal processing. If you're in significant threshold shift (STS), that means you have a confirmed 12 dB loss or more. That means your hearing is less sensitive to sound pressure by 1,000,000,000,000 pascals.
 
In the off-road world bead locks and rim locks are common to keep tires on the rim with low pressure. For normal people this is very expensive. For the normal people a couple wraps of gorilla tape around the rim in the seating area helps hold the bead in place.

That's the ticket for those oddball 16.5-LT wheels that don't have the safety bulge that all other DOT wheels are required to have.

Most of the time, you can fix it with a ratchet strap or chain binder. I've re-seated plenty of 12 ply tractor tires with nothing more than a chain, binder, and the air brake compressor on my truck. Sometimes it takes a little fiddling and some pipe butter or soap, but at least it's safe enough that you know you'll be going home to your family when the day's work is done, instead of a morgue.
