POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

This'll make you laugh. Was reassembling my dividing head and couldn't tighten the spindle preload ring with my bike pin spanner.

So obviously I had to make one. Couple of hours work for 5 min use!
Looks great! Hard to tell in the pic what cutting tool you are using to cut the square?

Thanks! Drilled 7/16", then used a 1/8" endmill to mill the sides 1/8" of a time until it was 1/2" deep.
I cheat and weld a scrap socket on to get an internal square. If I want it to look nice, I counterbore the part and cut away the socket to leave a disc containing the square hole, beveled to contain the fillet of the weld. I prefer to use Chromium Molybdenum impact sockets for this, as the weld holds up better than Vanadium alloy material.

Had to clean up behind my walk in door. Couldn’t open more than halfway due to shafting falling over. Most came out of commercial or hospital treadmills. Some regular. All hard. Smallest.500 largest 1.400. Octagon barrel is 44” long. 1.500 across flats. Still a mess.
