Turning Female Taper

Assuming a 16° included angle.

If using a taper attachment place a straight piece of material in the chuck, put a dial indicator in the tool post and another indicator on the carriage.
Zero the indicators and advance the carriage 1.01" then adjust the taper attachment until the cross feed indicator reads .140 at 1.01 of axial travel.

If using the compound do the same except using only one indicator assuming the compound has a lead screw with a graduated dial. If you would like more accuracy do the math to what ever level you require as I just put this together in a few minutes in order to give the general concept.
