my shaft is approx 3/8 od. I made a bushing 3/8" id by 3/4" od and 1 1/8" long. I pined it to the shaft with a roll pin and drilled a 5/16" hole near the end of the bushing past the end of shaft. I then drilled a 5/16" hole in a 3/4" id set collar opposite side of the set screw so I could use a 6 1/2" long 5/16" bolt for my handle. it takes a lot of pressure to slide magnetic section back and forth. I think the insides of our 6x18 chucks are different and my shaft was shorter and had to be removed sliding it out after removing the cam piece. It was about 15 years ago that I fixed mine so my memory isn't real clear---just that it was very difficult for me to make the cams without specs. or pictures.
