What Did You Buy Today?

I'm finding out first hand how expensive Canada is . We have to make a move from Toronto to Calgary in August . Truck or trailer rentals are outrageous . Be cheaper for me to buy an enclosed trailer down here and tow it up and across Canada . $7000 for a trailer rental ?
One way rentals are outrageous. Who are you looking at?

Especially when there's a migration out of an area. If more people are headed west than east, a west bound rental is far more than an east bound.
My sister used to have a boyfriend and he would tow stuff across the country for rental returns. He was lucky enough to have a route that took him one way so he could pull rentals back. He was even paid to do it, otherwise he'd have to pay the return route himself.

Yes. We experienced this in CA.

Grrr. They wait until they've got you backed into a corner, then gouge, gouge, gouge. Whatever happened to making profit on merit? Consumer choice isn't as good as giving the consumer no choice then jacking the price because you can, apparently. Tax money is the sweetest income, and consumer's tears are the second tastiest pork to grow fat on.

OT: I and some thousands of my closest colleagues were stuck in Vegas after 911; after all of the rental cars that were available for one-way rentals to the East Coast, people got together and bought cars with the plan to sell them after they got home - you do what you need to.

I carried home much plunder today.
The dregs of an estate sale.
Does anyone know what brand the shaper is?

What did I do?!?

Just came back from a local auction of a HUGE warehouse full of stuff!!! Mostly woodworking but there was a lot of good stuff.
So much stuff that they were selling by the table or shelf (then selling the table or shelf afterwards!)

I couldn’t pass up some deals on machine shafting and what I assume are some kind of bushings???
$20 for the shelf.
Ive now got more assorted norton wheels than I know what to do with. A number of different cup styles and some diamond as well!!! $25 for the shelf!

My body is very upset with me for carrying all that stuff to the truck. The shafting is like 40-50lbs each!

I think some bushings might be going up for sale as steel stock soon!!! :p
Flat rate box!
