Carbon removal from piston

Tip on walnut shell, whenever I need it I go straight to the pet store. It's like cat litter for reptiles, and really cheap. It's crushed, sieved, and washed, so very clean and uniform. I tumble brass with it, but it should feed through a siphon blaster really well.
What about using walnut shells in a vibratory tumbler?

Get your pistons spotless; but looking at those rusted cylinder studs you've got more fun ahead of you. If you're going to get into the bottom end.
Spent $400 to replace those studs..................
