I think most of us could say that.my problem is space I need a bigger shop
NCjeeper I usually don’t see deals like this in my area normally they want a lot more money for such a machine !!! And i might have another one coming up I’ll know more this weekend on this Monarch lathe series 61 20x54 I found close to me also the only reason the owner is selling is because he found one with a taper attachment and it’s a little bigger if I get the opportunity to look at that I’ll post some pictures and I’ll probably sell one of my Monarchs because I don’t need 3.$650 bucks are you kidding me. Man there are never deals like that around me. Make sure you get the drive gear for the vertical head.
I was out there the other week for the truck show and spent most of my time in the shop with them guys I met some really great people and am going to join up with them the one guy Dan was very helpful and had no problem showing me aroundIn many of those mills, they cast the rotation with an arrow on the drive pulley in the back of the machine behind the door. Some had a small plate riveted to the pulley too. Ask the owner to come over and show you how to run it after you get it ready. I'm sure he would love to help you. That's a BIG 10 - 4 on what NC Jeeper said about the drive gear. I see your in Maryland. Just incase you didn't know, there is a great Museum in Easton a 1/2 hour south of you with many old machines. If I lived out their I would become a member. I taught a class there. It has a huge building with antique machines all run off belts in the ceiling. https://tuckahoesteam.org/Collections/MachineShop/machinegallery.html https://tuckahoesteam.org/collectionspages/collectionsmachine.html
