Here are some photos from the tear-down so far. Beside about a pint and a half of water and muck in the crank sump and primary (none in the gearbox), the primary outer cover, and inner cover had orange high-temp RTV instead of gaskets. The oil pump gasket was glued on both sides with RTV. The sump gasket was glued on both sides with RTV. Happily, the water does not seemed to have reached the crank, and the only corrosion that I have seen is to the aluminum sump cover (so far).
Any engine that relies on oil circulation, that stuff can get into oil passages and clog them up. Also, people who use it instead of gaskets tend to slather it on like a 3-year-old with toothpaste.
