I was telling a friend about this forum, and how helpful the experienced brethren are, sharing their knowledge with the less experienced (like me.) During the discussion, I mentioned this thread, and all the help @markba633csi has provided on this project. Good on you, Mark, for sticking with @Wiscomx78 to get this machine sorted. I just love a happy ending!
 
Me too. I knew he could do it.
I learned something too: Don't assume the old contactors are any good, especially when
the previous owner has jury-rigged them
Next time I'm going to either have the person test them or replace them right off the bat
We could have gotten to this point much sooner- but it's all good
