How to repair compressor pressure switch?

The springs are normally quite weak. It just has to be strong enough to seat the valve. The tank pressure will help to keep it seated.

Put it back in and give it a try, it may be fine. The springs are not particularly strong in them, the air pressure holds them closed

I ordered a NEW check valve.
I had left overs, lamb chops, sweet potatoes and green beans.
Oh and IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!
I learned quite a bit about this old Craftsman 5 HP 230 volt 10 SCFM at 90 psi compressor.
Thanks to you guys!!
I won't be buying a new one for a while. As long as I can have shop air and it will run the plasma cutter and a die grinder.

Good job sticking with it!
The 1 to 2 hp oil-less compressors are pretty much throw-aways, but a 5 hp oil bath is worth keeping going.

The spring feels weak.
I’ll replace it.
Jeff, on a check valve, the spring only has to return the ball against the seat, the strong back pressure from the tank keeps it tightly sealed. Any additional spring pressure will fight the production of compressed air.
