Sherline "Tips"

Very nice. I may have to make one of these. No dimensions provided on the Sherline tip. Could you provide dimensions on the holder you made?
KBuzz,

I took some quick measurements and pictures of the tool holder that works for me. I think I started with a piece of 1 1/4 x 1 inch aluminum.

The important thing is to end up with the top of your tool positioned at lathe centerline.

The setup works great. I cut a 3/4" x 16 TPI in steel with this setup. So much better to be cutting on only one side of the thread rather than plunging straight in with the cross slide especially when you are hand cranking.

Of course you can also use the tool holder to turn short tapers and such just like on a big lathe.
