Vevor 7x14 Mini lathe compatibility

I got with Grizzly and they said the feed screw will work but is not a perfect match it will not have the threaded tailstock end. The rep I talked to claimed it really isn't needed. It's only used to reduce end play in the shaft and said if needed you can shim the drive gear?
Makes sense to me. I have been using mine for months now with no issues but what do I know.
 
His answer is correct. You can also shim at the right side block.
