What Did You Buy Today?

Late '40s Early '50s ? Compound trans mission? (2nd lever.)
No I wish stock one. Also I would like to get the reducer to have it go slower if possible. Does anyone know the name or model of that thing so I can search marketplace etc?

Sherman High-Low. There are many Sherman Overdrive transmissions out there, and a very few Underdrives.

I found these at Costco today and couldn't pass them up. The latex gloves were $12.99 for a box of 50. There were some open ones, which must be at least 9mil, perhaps more. I pulled hard, but they didn't rip.

Next, the shop mats. They weigh at 46 lbs each. I bought 6 and might go back for a few more. They had quite a few, but these tend to be one-time or rarely stocked items. I haven't visited Costco in several months but have never seen them. I'll figure out placement this weekend.

Picked up some de-burring/polishing wheels from amazon. Bought two 8x1", and after trying one out I ordered an 8x2". Next up is the set of 3 adjustable transfer punches I ordered from KBC tools a few weeks back. They called after I placed the order, and said they had sold out, but would ship them to me when they came back in. True to their word, they showed up yesterday. They had a little surface rust, but cleaned up easily with a little steel wool. Also picked up a plastic repair gun after seeing one on the forum. Last but not least the head unit for the Ditron 3 axis DRO came in. Still waiting on the magnetic scales as they ship separately. Mike

Bought several years ago but found behind pile of brass and primers moving stuff around today. Picked up reamers while buying a south bend from a guy that had a electric motor shop. Vise don’t remember where it came from.

I have a few Amacupid wheels. The same 'scutch-bryte' type as you have and one 80g and one 120 grit.

The 'scutch-bryte' is really quite good.

The grinding wheels aren't bad either, maybe a bit soft for my wallet but they do keep the workpiece a bit cooler than a harder wheel would I guess.

so is the 5p softer than the 9p? I can't find ratings on the P value. In sandpaper higher P values are finer grits, here the grits' the same and the hardness changes. 3m scothbrite uses a different system to grade their wheels, but those wheels that you have are 1/4 the price

edit: never mind, there is a orange and black text that I read..

I saw these on amazon for $17, (have seem them from other sources for around $50 for 6" versions), and thought I'd give them a shot. I had striped some bad chrome off some mill handles with rolock discs that left an uneven surface and thought these might work, and they actually did a good job evening out the surface's. They do make quite a mess considering it showed little appreciable wear to the wheel. Will be putting these on a dedicated grinder with a hood and vacuum hookup to control the mess. Higher the P# the harder they are. I haven't tried the 5p yet but will post results when I give it a go. The other concern is the center holes are slightly off center and wobble slightly when installed. Doesn't seem to affect much because they are so light, but I think I will bore the centers true, and install some metal bushings. Wasn't aware they were available in grits other than 180, will have to check again. Overall for the money I think they work well, and will probably continue to stock some. Mike

Saw the mats for the first time today: there weren’t there last Friday.

The Medicom gloves are great - they run a little smaller than the thin Nitrile gloves they have in the Pharmaceutical area and hold up well.
