What Did You Buy Today?

I splurged and did some bling upgrade.

The used lathe I picked up 2 years ago , gear box was empty.
I could not see through the sight glass. I removed the sight glass to see the level as I added oil.
FINALLY during the cold shop days replaced the sight glass.

Still wondering why it was empty. Its been 2 years since I filled it. No leaks. A good thing

Wasn't a purchase but I'm happy to have it, got it for free at my new work, just came in this past week. I've never been so excited to get a catalog before, well except for the last time I got the other one, lol. That was like 10-15 yrs ago & was from a different employer. The excitement only lasted a few minutes, too bad I'll probably never use it & will just sit on the shelf. It's just one of those things I have to have. :)

They have become even harder to get than they used to be. The website is a Love/Hate thing for sure!

I don't know quite what the alure is about McMaster catalogs. I gave up on them in the early 2000's. By the time they are published they're obsolete. I can't count the number of times the price or description changed between the time I got the catalog and when I made orders. We used to get them by the dozen at work, but it was easier to just go online to make an order. Both the price and description on their website is up to date. You also know immediately if what you are ordering is in stock, and where it's coming from.

There's a lot of good info in them when you're off-line. When I do purchase from them, I always go online to their site for the latest info.

I wonder if you can pick up a catalog at their will-call counter?

Already have one from a fellow forum member… but I saw this show up last night on FB Marketplace for 35.00. Could not pass it up. And it is smaller than the one I have so it fits better on my table-top table…

Picked it up this morning on my way to Ray’s place ( @rdean )

Lamp, Vemco drafting machine, and drafting table (not in the photo as it is still in the truck). The table is not in the best shape so I will use the base with my table top…
