I tried to nail Enco down about the merger. Below is my email to them and their response. After reading their ..... Ummmm ....... generic response, I don't feel any better than I did before.
Mark, let me apologize in advance for the lateness of our reply.
We certainly understand how you feel, and all that we can ask is that you give MSC a try. They are making a genuine attempt at reaching the hobbyists and individual consumers, and they've heard loud and clear that folks such as yourself have concerns about shopping with them based on price. They - and Enco management - have also heard all of the concerns that customers have voiced about our current shopping experience, especially Enco's website. MSC is going to help us with that, and we think that's going to be a win for our customers as well.
If you haven't already done so, please visit
www.mscdirect.com/enco and follow the instructions there to log into your new MSC account. Logging into your new MSC account will allow you to see how their pricing is competitive relative to what you've seen in the past at Enco.
Most of the Enco team will be staying on at MSC, so if you decide to place an order with them, there's a good chance you'll be talking (or chatting or emailing) one of the old Enco holdovers (like myself). We hope you'll give MSC a chance to win and keep your business.
If you have any other comments or concerns - large or small - please let us know and we'll do our best to address them. Thanks and we hope to hear from you again soon!
Sincere regards,
Doug - Enco Operations

Subject: Enco closing
To whom it may concern,
It has come to my attention ( and MANY others) that effective August, 2016 Enco will cease to exist and be absorbed into the parent company, MSC. While I have seen comments from MSC that we will still enjoy the ENCO pricing and delivery, It seems that is not true. I have compared the same products from Enco and MSC and the MSC price has been considerably higher. I belong to several organizations with thousands of members world wide, dedicated to the world of hobby machining and many are concerned about this as we all have bought from ENCO for years. It seems the consensus is that MSC caters to industrial customers who buy in very large quantities. I , myself am inclined to agree with that statement.
Speaking for myself, from my comparison results, I will probably switch to buying from a large import company as hundreds have indicated they are thinking the same way. The thousands of hobbyists, although probably a small portion of the MSC customer base, will probably not be missed by your company, but it is a sad situation and I guess change is inevitable. It seems the only thing left to say is, ENCO will be missed by thousands of hobbyists and we will look for a supplier to fill our needs. It has been a good run and it saddens me to see it end.
Thank you for the service you provided,
