A Floating Chucking Reamer-Why not!

Man, this stainless sure does machine beautifully!

The MT3 fit is also perfect!! I left extra room with the straight shank so I can hold it when I flip it.
I guess I could have used MT sleeves in the spindle but then I'd have to remove this 400# chuck :)
So far so good.

Now, to cut a thread relief then single point thread a 1 3/4" 16UN

Wish me luck.

Edit.
This is part one of three. I think it went extremely well.
On to part two.
Also, I ended up using the taper in the spindle. Concentricity is the path And I just didn’t have the confidence using the four jaw.

If you haven't been there, You will.
snoopdog,
I see you are in OK. My wife's relatives are from Idabell and Pickins.
She went back to visit last summer with her sister. The folks live in a beautiful place.
There is a lake that use to be sleepy and unpopulated until the Air-B&B craze took it over.
Too bad.

Two down, two to go.
I’m saving the most difficult for last :)
The center piece is drill rod, hardened and pressed in with a touch of Loctite 603 retaining compound.
I then surface ground to about .003” proud.

Made some progress until ---OOPS

You know how they always say to grab long strings of hot sharp metal with pliers motor off?
I had the motor off part :)

I'm using some mystery stainless steel. It machines beautifully -303?

Hope you'all had a great turkey day, I sure did.
Well, now if the lathe is ever stolen, they'll be able to identify you as the owner with a DNA test.

It happens. My dad was a high school shop teacher and told kids to never wipe chips off the saddle, bed, cutting tool, etc. with their hands; use a chip brush. He was doing a demo and of course used his hand. He knew right away he'd cut himself but squeezed tightly with other fingers to stop the bleeding; never missed a beat, no one knew any different. He couldn't let on he'd done something wrong as the instructor. That's where he and I differ, I'd have used it as a teaching moment; "Hey, remember what I told you not to do! Well, here's why!"

Idabel is south of us, we are in the NE corner, due west of Fayetteville, AR.
