Close up view of end of the brake lever shaft. I would show how the Brake lever is removed...but my brake lever is missing.
Should be able to drive the roll pin out this much...gotta grab it with vise grips next.
Rotate the brake shaft so you can see the end of the roll pin. I just used the punch through the end as shown. Keep the punch handy.
"Mostly" drive out the roll pin in the brake shaft with a punch and hammer, This is holding the brake operating cam to the shaft.

View of the belt housing after you've removed the brake shoes. Here you can see the cam fingers simply open up without the shoes holding them together
After you've removed the screw in the picture before this the brake shoes will lift right out... The cam fingers are holding the shoes apart here.
Remove this screw to start uninstalling the brake shoes.

The brake lever handle itself has a pin through it that is secured with one set screw...remove the set screw then the pin. Then the brake lever handle will come free.
